Honore' Vs. IED Threat
Remember Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré of "stuck on stupid" fame? Well, now he's coming to the rescue again to defeat the most dire threat of our troops in Iraq:
The Improvised Explosive Device, or IED, is the number one casualty producer of troops on today’s battlefields. To defeat the IED threat, Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré, commanding general, First Army, and more than 200 IED experts gathered at Camp Shelby last week to map the way forward.
“The enemy is smart and adaptive,” Honoré said. “We must be smarter than the enemy. We must leverage all of our capabilities on the ground, in theater and here at home, to defeat the IED threat and protect our troops.”That leveraging begins with the Defense Department’s proponent for defeating IEDs, the Joint IED-Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) at the U.S. Army Maneuver Center at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
