Prince Harry as Terrorist Magnet

The heir to the British Monarchy is headed to Iraq, according to NewsMax:

The head of the British army said Monday that he had personally
decided that Prince Harry, the third in line to the throne, will serve with a
combat unit in Iraq...Harry, a 22-year-old second lieutenant, is a tank
commander trained to lead a 12-man team in four armored reconnaissance vehicles.
If deployed, he would become the first royal to serve in a war zone since his
uncle, Prince Andrew, flew as a helicopter pilot in Britain's conflict with
Argentina over the Falkland Islands in 1982.
Commanders reportedly had
reconsidered their decision to allow the prince to fight in Iraq for fear his
presence could endanger other soldiers.

Here's why I think this is a wise decision, from a military standpoint: First of all, I have no doubt that the British Army can effectively secure and protect one of their own, as seen by countless IRA attacks against the Royal Family since the 1960's ( except for that Mountbatten tragedy). Next, with the Al Qaeda terrorists making threats of mammoth efforts to take out the young prince, this would be pressure taken off Iraqi civilians and legitimate military targets, while the enemy wastes manpower on this high-profile target. Much like 9/11, which was very humiliating and destructive, and emboldened America rather than forcing us out of the Middle East, the enemy will reap the whirlwind again.

Strategypage has more.

Also, I doubt using the Prince as terrorist-bait was the intent of the British government, but if so it is a stroke of military genius. Maybe we should consider sending another Harry to Iraq, one not so popular in the news of late. I kid, lighten up!
