Cheetah gets High Praise

Force Protection Inc of nearby Ladson, SC has a new weapon to counter the IED threat, as revealed by the Weekly Standard:

In my opinion, there's really only one available MRAP vehicle that
offers a good balance between blast-protection and size, and that is Force
Protection's Cheetah (JLTV, the official Humvee replacement program, will offer
all that and more, but isn't even close to entering full-scale production--the
Army has yet to determine a winner in the competition). The Cheetah, which I got
to see up close alongside a number of its competitors at the AUSA Winter
Symposium (I posted a number of photos of the different vehicles at the time
here), is, at roughly 12,000
pounds (that's the figure I got, though Defense News puts it at closer to 16,000
pounds), in the same weight-class as the Humvee, but with a whole lot more
protection for the guys riding inside.
